This includes your full name and contact details, your place of employment (if any) and any relevant associations you may belong to. In addition, as outlined above, the assessment interview will be recorded.

We need this information so we can identify you in our system and so we can contact you about the service. We need information about your employer and any relevant associations so we can manage any potential conflicts of interest that could arise in the assessment process.

We need to record the interview so that the contents can be analysed by an assessor and co-ordinator to determine the NZSL proficiency level, for our quality assurance processes and in case you wish to refer the outcome of your interview to an appeal.

If you do not wish to provide this information or if you do not agree to the interview being recorded, you’ll be unable to undertake a NZSLPI interview.

We will share your personal details with any potential assessor so we can ensure the best match between a candidate and assessor and with our business partners for administrative purposes. If you submit an appeal of your assessment, we may share the assessment recording with an independent expert, as outlined above. If you agree to us retaining your interview for training purposes, we will share your interview with other assessors for training purposes.

We keep your personal details and the recording of the interview safe and by only allowing certain people access to it. We will keep the recording of your interview for a period of three months in case you wish to appeal any outcome of the interview or, with your written permission, a maximum of 12 twelve months for training purposes, at which point we destroy it by securely erasing all digital files. Your name and contact details will be kept for as long as necessary to achieve the purpose of the collection and to meet other statutory requirements such as the Public Records Act (if applicable).
